Loretta Tarbert

Loretta Tarbert once described her job at the Exchange as incomparable to other job opportunities in Baltimore (Baltimore Sun). Dorothy Loretta Willback was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1915. She worked at the Hochschild-Kohn tea room, Hutzler’s, Stewart’s, and the May Company in Baltimore with her sister, Carrie Geraghty. The two also had a sister named Mary A. Wellback. Loretta waitressed at the Woman’s Industrial Exchange with Carrie from the late 1980s to the 1990s.

Loretta was married to T. Harry Eades, with whom she shared two daughters, Gail Eades and Mary Diane Stovall. She later married Maxwell B. Tarbert, Jr. and was the stepmother of Gwendolyn Harrington, Mary Lou Tarbert, Maxwell Tarbert III, and David Tarbert.

Loretta passed away on May 20, 2011, in Baltimore, Maryland. She had 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren at the time of her death. She left behind a legacy at the Exchange as an admired waitress.
