1921 – July 6, 2005

Rita Marie Hegarty was born around 1921 and lived in the Baltimore area for 62 years, where she attended the   now called Notre Dame of Maryland University. She was married to Elmer V. Knox. Rita was the manager of the Woman’s Industrial Exchange during the 1990s and was enthusiastically involved with the management of the consignment shop. One item sold in the shop was handmade bed canopies that Rita posed with in 1992 for an article featured in the Baltimore Sun. She had five children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Apart from her leadership at the Exchange, Rita worked in consignment and management in other areas of Baltimore. From 1981 to 1989, Rita worked at the Wilsons Harborplace Flower Market, and from 1995 to 2003, she managed the Good Samaritan Hospital Consignment Shop. Prior to her impressive consignment shop work and management, she was an intern for Maryland Senator Jennie Forehand and worked on the Maryland Commission on Physical Fitness earlier in her career.

She had five children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren when she died in Baltimore on July 6, 2005.
